BergerHenry ENT is pleased to support the inaugural World Sinus Health Awareness Day this Wednesday, September 29, 2021.
Founded by the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery in partnership with Intersect ENT, Inc., it is designed to make the millions of sinus sufferers aware of nasal and sinus symptoms, how to improve them, and when specialized treatment by a doctor is necessary.
Is It COVID, the Common Cold, Allergies or Sinusitis?
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, BergerHenry ENT believes it is critical for patients to be able to recognize the different types of nasal and sinus symptoms, and understand that COVID-19, the common cold, allergies (allergic rhinitis), non-allergic rhinitis, and chronic sinusitis can share the same symptoms.
One such symptom is anosmia which is loss of smell and taste. It occurs with COVID-19 as well as the common cold, sinusitis, and allergies.

Watch as a panel of expert ENT doctors from around the US answer patient questions about sinus and nasal symptoms, treatments, medical care, and more.
It’s Safe to Go to the Doctor’s Office
Another goal of World Sinus Health Awareness Day is to assure patients that it is safe to return to the doctor’s office. BergerHenry ENT, in particular, has implemented COVID-19 science-driven safety measures that create the safest environment possible for patients, doctors, and staff.
- No Forms, No Wait, Patient Appointments
- ENT visits by appointment only. No walk-ins please
- Patients will be temperature-tested and required to wear face masks upon entry
- Face masks must cover your nose and mouth and fit snugly around your face and chin. Neck gaiters, open-chin bandanas and masks with vents or exhalation valves are not acceptable at this time
- Proper spacing will be maintained in waiting areas or you may wait in your car
- Each office is ultrasonically cleaned and disinfected continuously
- PPE equipment and safety measures have been instituted for all staff and doctors
- Offices have been reorganized and retrofit to accommodate COVID precautions for the short-term and long-term
The goal of World Sinus Health Awareness Day in 2021 is to provide you with accurate information so that you can make informed decisions about your health and take the proper actions to improve it.
Please do not delay scheduling an appointment with your ENT doctor if you experience ongoing nasal or sinus symptoms – or even new symptoms. It’s not safe to do so, especially during the pandemic.
